About Alignd

Our Mission

We’re here to give parents a fighting chance. As Big Tech and AI work ever-harder to command more of our children’s attention and time, we provide you with the practical, evidence-based and personalized behavior change knowledge, plans and support you need. So you can help your child take and maintain control over the technologies they use and reclaim more time for real life.

This work isn’t straightforward. It requires patience, humility, a spirit of adventure and a lot of empathy - for your child and yourself. But the benefits of persevering can last, and impact, a lifetime.

Clinical Knowledge

Every plan and guidance interaction you have with Alignd is informed by a proprietary, evolving body of clinical knowledge informed by thousands of pediatric/family digital health therapy sessions - and an always expanding library of proprietary and trusted 3rd-party, peer-reviewed digital health research.

Alignd’s guidance team and offering, including this body of knowledge (or “corpus”), is overseen and managed by Alignd co-founder , founder and director of the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. And while Aligned is not offering a clinical service, we’re built like such a service should be: Careful, evidence-led, and focused on both specific, measurable gains and progress you can feel.

A COM-B Framework

Our clinical knowledge is delivered via COM-B, a behavioral science framework developed by researchers at University College London. Over 15+ years, it has demonstrated significant success in promoting exercise and physical activity, improving diet, enhancing medication adherence and in smoking cessation.

COM-B holds that behavior change requires three factors working together — Capability, Opportunity, and Motivation. It’s not a tool for persuading someone to change. It’s a tool designed to close knowledge gaps, reduce everyday friction and build the motivation to follow through — so new habits hold long after the plan ends.

COM-B framework diagram: three overlapping circles — Capability (do they have the skills and know-how?), Opportunity (does their environment make it possible?), and Motivation (do they want to follow through?) — meeting at the center to produce Behavior.

Built to Help at Scale

Unhealthy technology use is a major pediatric health challenge. It impacts kids and parents everywhere, from all walks of life. So we’ve created a technical platform that can provide personalized, evidence-based, digital health behavior change plans and guidance affordably and at scale.

How do we do it? places AI “frontier models” like Anthropic’s Claude and Open AI’s Chat GPT inside a much larger system in which 5 structural layers sit between the user and the raw model, with each layer adding vital guidance, safety and experience management value the frontier model can’t supply on its own.

The Alignd technology architecture as five stacked layers: 1. Corpus Council (multi-persona deliberation), 2. Proprietary Knowledge (corpus + retrieval), 3. Domain Modeling (COM-B program structure), 4. Longitudinal Memory & State, and 5. Lifecycle Engagement Engine.
